Parents & Citizens (P&C)

** Next P & C Meeting **

Meeting to elect office bearers for 2018 to be held at 2pm on Wednesday 4 April 2018, in the school library

The following meeting is scheduled for 7 May at 7pm in the school Library

President's Welcome (Welcome from our 2018 President TBC)

A Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) is a school-based organisation with membership open to parents, school staff and interested citizens.

At the SDPS P&C AGM in March 2017, Hayley Lethlean stepped down from her role as P&C President. Hayley had been SDPS's P&C President for many years and I would like to thank her for her hard work, enthusiasm and positive energy. She, along with the P&C team, have worked tirelessly to fundraise and support some wonderful school initiatives including purchasing weather protection for both the junior and senior playgrounds, purchasing a new sport shed for the oval, installing new equipment in the canteen, the build and installation of a brilliant nature playground, new books for the English Department and Library and uniforms for the sports teams.

In 2017 we have already achieved some of our goals including purchasing new shirts for the choir, installing the hand dryers and soap dispensers in the bathrooms and moving to an online uniform shop. We have also started exploring new possibilities for our school canteen and we are thankful to all the families who have participated in our online survey. Finally we are also looking forward to finding a way to assist the school to make the undercover area a fully enclosed space a reality!

To enable the P&C to continue to support the school we really need you! We need new faces to join the team and help out!  Please consider coming along to a P&C meeting, or volunteering to help out in the canteen or at a P&C event. Volunteering your time, however much, will help you and your family connect to a supportive and inclusive school community. If volunteering isn't your thing, the P&C also invite you to consider providing an annual voluntary contribution. Remember there are lots of ways you can help and be involved in the P&C.

There is often a misconception that the P&C focuses mainly on fundraising. The SDPS P&C has a much wider focus and provides:

  • A forum to bring parents, citizens and the school administration together.
  • It gives parents a chance to keep up to date with all school activities and to have a say in any issues that concern them or their child at our School.
  • It is an opportunity to contribute to the School's resources through various fundraising projects and be involved in deciding how the money raised is spent.

Please contact me by email at if you would like to become involved in the P&C in 2017. I look forward to hearing from you.
