STEM

At Sutherland Dianella Primary School we acknowledge that teaching and learning is changing due the rapid developments in technology occurring throughout the world. These technological advances mean that in the future your child might apply for a job that does not even exist at this present time. As a committed, passionate and innovative school community we endeavour to support your child/children to become life longer learners who are prepared for life outside of school.

Incorporating Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) into the classroom is one way the Sutherland Dianella Community is addressing this challenge.  As we believe that education is a shared responsibility between home, school and the community we are planning to conduct a whole school “Paper Roller Coasters” Project where students will have the opportunity to combine STEM to make paper rollers coasters over a ten week period.

The project will be occurring from Kindergarten all the way through to Year 6. To ensure that we are an inclusive school community that supports success for all students, classes will have the opportunity to work in collaboration to complete the project.

We also encourage you to become involved by asking your child how the project is going, volunteering your time if you are available and visiting our web page to access information you can share with your child.
