The Pre-Primary to Year 6 Music program at Sutherland Dianella Primary School provides a range of inclusive opportunities for students to make and respond to art works, developing an understanding of the role of the arts in society. The Music Specialist also supports classroom teachers in preparation for music and songs used in assembly performances.
In addition to the classroom program, Sutherland Dianella supports School of Instrumental Music programs in clarinet and brass. Students are tested for musical aptitude across a range of criteria for selection to the program.
The Choir at Sutherland Dianella Primary School comprises students from Year 1 to Year 6 and comes together each week to learn songs, practise vocal technique and learn about how to use their instrument, always with an emphasis on fun. They have a long and proud tradition of public performance at community events such as ANZAC Day, Harmony Day, NAIDOC, annual awards presentations and other occasions. The Choir also takes part in annual larger scale performances such as One Big Voice and WAGSMS.
